I first fell in love with hanging flower balls 16 years ago. While on a date with the hubby, we were walking down an outdoor strip mall in Utah and I spotted them hanging in an adorable children’s clothing boutique window.

They were mesmerizing colorful balls of joy. I stared up in wonderment examining how they were created. I made a mental note that I’d one day create my own.

Since then I’ve made them with roses, daisies, hydrangeas and all sorts of other flowers for different events. From birthdays, to weddings and garden parties. They still bring the same amount of happiness today as it did so many years ago.

I’m thrilled to show you how to create your own. It will be an addiction as you start thinking about hanging balls through the seasons. I promise you will love every minute as we craft together!

Here’s the checklist of items you need for this craft (links shared are not affiliate links):

Step 1:

Pull out about 6 inches of ribbon, fold in half and push a pin through the center fold.

Step 2:

Put a dot of glue on the top of the foam ball. Be careful not to touch the glue gun metal tip to the foam or else it will melt into your ball. Carefully push the pin through the glued top to secure your ribbon.

Step 3:

Matching the raw edges of the ribbon together, tie an overhand knot to hang your flower ball.

Step 4:

Remove the flower heads from the stems by popping off the tops. Push one stem into your ball making an indentation.

Step 5:

Put glue in the indentation, and press the flower in the spot.

Step 6:

Hold until the glue dries.

Step 7:

Repeat over and over until the ball is fully covered.

Now that you’ve mastered the steps, think of the possibilities…foam roses, fall blooms, poinsettias, and more, the options are endless!
